Thermal aerosol extinguishing agents are mainly pyrotechnic compositions consisting of oxidizers, reducers, and additives. They can undergo redox combustion reactions internally upon activation, producing condensed aerosols. The resulting aerosol appears as a pure white smoke, a gas-like substance that can remain suspended in the fire space for a long time, possessing exceptionally high fire extinguishing capability. The gaseous phase of the aerosol mainly consists of N2, a small amount of CO2, and water vapor, while the solid phase mainly includes carbonates and metal oxides.
